Email Logs

Email logs track every email sent through Matchpal, including delivery status and engagement metrics.

Viewing Logs

  1. Navigate to Email → Logs
  2. See all sent emails
  3. Filter by date, recipient, template, or status
  4. Click any log for details

Log Information

Each log entry shows:

Status Meanings

StatusMeaning
QueuedEmail pending send
SentDispatched to email provider
DeliveredConfirmed received by mail server
OpenedRecipient opened the email
ClickedRecipient clicked a link
BouncedEmail could not be delivered
FailedTechnical error prevented sending

Understanding Statuses

Sent vs. Delivered

  • Sent - Email left Matchpal
  • Delivered - Email arrived at recipient's mail server
  • Delivery doesn't guarantee inbox placement

Open Tracking

  • Tracked via invisible pixel
  • Records when email is viewed
  • Multiple opens may be recorded
  • Some clients block tracking

Click Tracking

  • Links rewritten through tracking
  • Records each click
  • Shows which links are popular

Bounces

Bounces occur when:

  • Invalid email address
  • Mailbox full
  • Server rejected message
  • Domain doesn't exist

Filtering Logs

Filter to find specific emails:

  • Date Range - Emails sent within period
  • Status - Only bounced, only delivered, etc.
  • Recipient - Specific person
  • Template - Specific template used

Log Details

Click a log entry to see:

  • Full recipient information
  • Complete subject and preview
  • All status changes with timestamps
  • Bounce reason if applicable
  • Click details if any

Using Logs for Troubleshooting

Email Not Received

  1. Find the email in logs
  2. Check status
  3. If delivered, check spam folder
  4. If bounced, review reason
  5. If failed, check error details

Bounce Investigation

  1. Filter for bounced emails
  2. Review bounce reasons
  3. Identify invalid addresses
  4. Update or remove bad addresses

Retention

Logs are retained for:

  • Reference and troubleshooting
  • Compliance requirements
  • Historical records
